Apply knowledge of cutting tool design and application theory, project management, process design, quality systems, and customer relations to the production of precision machined parts.
Job Duties: Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble parts or products and to promote efficient utilization. Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures. Recommend, coordinate, and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, identify tooling points of failure, maximize product reliability, or minimize costs. Develop manufacturing methods, standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient machining and manufacturing. Confer with clients, vendors, staff, and management regarding purchases, tooling specifications and designs, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and/or project status. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a product cost improvement or manufacturing research position. Experience must also include experience machining analysis in a CNC manufacturing facility. Demonstrated experience in capital equipment procurement, and cell designs including cell layout, work instructions, c-plan, PFMEA, PPAP documentation and process design required. Must also be able to conduct suitable process engineering research and analysis in a machine and tool intensive manufacturing environment as demonstrated by published refereed research in tool failure mode analysis and/or tool wear prediction. Must be able to program with G&M codes, interpret basic blue prints, and inspect and identify defective parts.
Bachelors degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or related field.
