Position SummaryA fast-paced position that participates in all phases of sun care and shaving gel product formulations development and process design, and implementation.
Involves scale-up from bench-top to commercial production, batch processing/compounding, and liquid fill production operations, utilizing advanced problem solving techniques within a continuous improvement environment
A key member of the Formulations Product Development team, partnering with Product Formulations, Batch processing and Liquid fill operations teams to deliver scalable processes resulting in product stabilization.
AccountabilitiesBe accountable for all assigned Reliability Engineering deliverables from concept through production
Execute all Advanced Quality Planning and designing for reliability activities for complex, simultaneous product programs; exhibit proficient understanding and application of most or all elements of Advanced Quality Planning
Interact cross-functionally on shared goals; represent Reliability Engineering at Meetings led by senior managers
Participate in product and process design reviews, advocating for consumer wants and needs
Lead or participate in the innovation of consumer-focused processes and protocols for continuous improvement
Execute or support product and process validation including lean testing methods and analysis
Specific AccountabilitiesExperienced in solving complex technical problems in a structured manner; effective at drawing robust conclusions from experiments/analysis in order to optimize designs
Able to proficiently apply most statistical methods in order to draw conclusions from large data sets
Able to understand consumer wants in support of developing functional engineering requirements and tests that validate product and process robustness
Strong interpersonally within a highly collaborative environment, proactive with duties and relationships and proficient with verbal and written communication
Required Skills and ExperienceBS in Chemical Engineering preferred, or Mechanical Engineering
Five or more years working in a chemical formulations product development environment
Trained in structured problem solving technique(s)
Excellent computer skills - working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Minitab
Interested in making a difference with both the product and the workplace
Preferred Skills and ExperienceDesigning for reliability
Aerosol & non-aerosol formulation development
Liquid fill processing operations
Scale-up from bench top to commercial production
Working in a GMP environment with an understanding of FDA requirements for OTC and/or medical devices
ASQ CQE certification and/or Six Sigma Black Belt
Application of DOE and advanced statistics
Working Relationships & EnvironmentWorking Relationships
Reports to Project Manager, Reliability Engineering
Key internal relationships will include Product Formulations Design, Research, Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Program Management, Consumer Affairs and Regulatory; frequent interaction with global colleagues on shared projects
Key external relationships may include contract manufacturers and suppliers.
